Overview

The SENSORWORX digital scene selector and dimmer enables users to run scenes stored on digitally paired load controllers in addition to functioning as an on/off/raise/lower wall station. These stylish single-gang devices are intuitive for end users and can be utilized with other SENSORWORX digital wall stations to provide dimming and switching control from multiple locations within a space. All SENSORWORX products are proudly made in the USA.

The SENSORWORX digital suite of products communicate over a topology-free, 3-wire data line connection. Wiring uses common 18/3 cable & wire nuts, thus eliminating the issues that plague CAT-5 based systems. These individually addressable wall stations are digitally zoned together with load controllers and sensors via one of three methods. The first is the out-of-the-box single zone default configuration, the second (for multi-zone applications) is by using a push-button pairing sequence, and the third is via the SENSORWORX mobile application (also requires SWD-940 Advanced Load Controller). Once paired, a digital control zone can be highly configured with several operating modes, dimming settings, and photocell parameters.

Scenes are used to change the lighting level and/or operational settings of one or more digital controls zones in a space. When a scene button is pressed, a digital message is sent to all the paired load controllers to run the requested scene that is stored locally in each device. Creation of all scenes can be done via the SENSORWORX Config mobile app that interfaces a zone via a SWD-940 Advanced Load Controller pack. Direct creation and saving of preset style scenes that only involve the lighting level is also possible by pressing and holding one of the four scene buttons which saves the curent light level state.

Applications

Adding a digital scene selector & dimmer to a room controlled by a SENSORWORX digital load controller (SWD-900) and a SENSORWORX digital sensor (e.g. SWD-201) enables code compliant vacancy (manual on) operation of each zone. The 4-Scene remote dimmer is perfect for providing on-demand scene changes and raise/lower control.

Additional remote dimmers & switches can be paired, enabling user control from multiple locations (3-way & multi-way).

Digital Zone Configuration

A. Out-of-the-Box (single zone only)
B. Push-Button Pairing (required for multi-zone)
C. Mobile App Pairing (requires a SWD-940 on digital data line)

A. OUT-OF-THE-BOX FUNCTIONALITY

By default, digital load controllers listen to all devices connected to their dataline. This enables installers to immediately verify all device wiring, and provides instant control of single zone rooms. Default listening is cancelled once first device is paired via method below.

B. PUSH-BUTTON PAIRING (SEE DIAGRAM BELOW)

Step 1. Enter pairing mode by holding down the button on the load controller to be linked for 3 seconds until the LED starts alternating white then blue.

Step 2. At the scene selector, hold down the button (see diagram below) for 3 seconds until the LED starts alternating white then blue. Upon release the load controller will be paired (i.e. linked) to the scene selector. The lights will toggle once as confirmation.

Step 3. Repeat step 2 to link additional wall stations (or sensors).

Step 4. When all devices have been linked, exit pairing mode on the load controller by pressing its button 1 time. Exiting will also occur automatically after 15 minutes of no new devices being linked.

Note 1: When in pairing mode, the alternating LED colors on the load controller will periodically pause and blink out the total number of linked devices. There will be no blinks during the pause until the first device is linked via the push-button (or mobile app.) pairing process.

Note 2: Once the first remote device has been paired to the load controller it will stop listening to all non-paired devices on the data line.

C. MOBILE APP PAIRING

Note: Requires a SWD-940 Advanced Load Controller be on the same data line as the sensor.

Operation Notes

  • The unit’s blue LED will light only when a button is pressed.

  • The dim up and dim down buttons may be held down to increase dimming rate.

  • There are always 20 equal steps of dim level (voltage) adjustment from high trim to low trim (or reverse) when using a SWD-804-4S remote scene selector and dimmer.

  • When using the SWD-804-4S the scenes are saved by pushing and holding the scene activation button for 10 seconds. The SENSORWORX Config Mobile App can also be used to save scenes when an Advanced Load Controller (SWD-940) is present in the space.
