Overview

The SENSORWORX hybrid digital load controller has enhanced capabilities that enable a SENSORWORX digital room to integrate seamlessly with wireless devices. It also includes scenes, time and astronomical based schedules, and can be configured via a mobile device application. These advanced features are in addition to the device’s standard switching, and dimming abilites. The unit’s relay is rated for 16A and utilizes a powerful microprocessor to optimize its switch timing, ensuring long relay life even when controlling high-inrush LED lighting.

As with all SENSORWORX products, these devices are easy to install and incorporate features which reduce contractor labor time. An elongated chase nipple with snaps for quick installation and a convenient test button make for a hassle-free contractor experience. All SENSORWORX products are proudly made in the USA.

The SENSORWORX digital suite of products communicate over a topology-free, 3-wire data line connection. Data line wiring uses common 18/3 cable & wire nuts, thus eliminating the issues that plague CAT-5 based systems. These individually addressable load controllers are digitally zoned together with wall stations and sensors via one of three methods. The first is the out-of-the-box single zone default configuration, the second (for multi-zone applications) is by using a push-button pairing sequence, and the third is via the SENSORWORX mobile application. Once paired, a digital control zone can be highly configured with several operating modes, dimming settings, and photocell parameters

Basic Operation

Using the SENSORWORX Config App on a mobile device (iOS or Android), the advanced hybrid load controller can discover and pair SENSORWORX digital and SENSORWORX wireless devices or pull in pairing previously setup using the push-to-pair process. When configuring a room, each load controller is assigned to a digital control zone. Scenes can then be created to either augment the behavior of the zone (i.e. Occupancy vs Vacancy, High/Low trim, etc.) or simply modify the lighting level. Scenes can be triggered on demand via a scene selector wall station, a contact closure input, or set up to execute via time-of-day or astronomical clock schedules.

Applications

The SWD-970 advanced hybrid load controller has the ability to seemlessly interface SENSORWORX wireless devices into control zones of SENSORWORX wired digital devices. Incorporating a SWD-970 into a room adds the ability to create scenes and to run time & astronomical based schedules that utilize the device’s internal clock.

Within the room, digital dataline wiring requires just a 3-wire cable between any SWD-900 series load controllers, SWD-200/400 series sensors, and SWD-800 series switches. All devices by default will communicate in a single zone configuration. For multi-zone applications or to add SENSORWORX wireless devices, the push-to-pair configuration method can be used, however using the SENSORWORX Config App. makes the process ladder free. Beyond just enabling creation of zones, the mobile app also allows for ladderless setup and configuration of time schedules, scenes, and operational settings for all wired and wirelessly connected load controllers.

Applications can be easily deployed to meet code requirements such as, Occupancy, Vacancy, Partial On, and Partial Off. In addition, Daylight Harvesting and multi-way dimming/switching are available features.

MOUNTING INSTRUCTION

Load controller packs are designed to attach to electrical enclosures with 1/2” knockouts. Do not mount unit inside a metal junction box.

INSTALLATION NOTES

1. For supply connections, use 14 AWG (90°C) or larger wires. Wire all circuits exiting chase nipple as Class 1 circuits.
2. Suitable for plenum use.
3. Risk of Electric Shock – More than one disconnect switch may be required to de-energize the equipment before servicing.

Digital Zone Configuration

DIGITAL ZONE CONFIGURATION

A. Out-of-the-Box (single zone only)
B. Push-Button Pairing (required for multi-zone)
C. Mobile App Pairing (requires a SWD-940 on digital data line)

A. OUT-OF-THE-BOX FUNCTIONALITY

By default, digital load controllers listen to all devices connected via the data line. This enables installers to immediately verify all device wiring, and provides instant control of single-zone rooms. Default listening is cancelled once the first device is paired via method below.

B. PUSH-BUTTON PAIRING (see diagram below)

Step 1. Enter pairing mode by holding down the button on the hybrid load controller for 3 seconds until the LED starts alternating white then blue.

Step 2. At the remote device (either digital or wireless), hold down the button for 3 seconds until the LED starts alternating white then blue. Upon release the load controller will be paired (i.e., linked) to the device. The lights will toggle once as confirmation.

Step 3. Repeat step 2 to link additional remote devices.

Step 4. When all devices have been linked, exit pairing mode on the hybrid load controller by pressing its button 1 time. Exiting will also occur automatically after 15 minutes of no new devices being linked.

Note 1: When in pairing mode, the alternating LED colors on the hybrid load controller will periodically pause and blink out the total number of linked devices. There will be no blinks during the pause until the first device is linked via the push-button (or mobile app.) pairing process.

Note 2: Once the first remote wired device has been paired to the hybrid load controller, it will stop listening to all non-paired wired devices on the data line.

C. MOBILE APP PAIRING (requires a SWD-940/970 on digital data line)

Note: Refer to the SENSORWORX Config Mobile App Manual for step-by-step usage instructions.
